I've just built a system using AMD 2500+ Barton and Asus A7V600

My problem is that the motherboard will power down without warning at
any time. Sometimes within 2 seconds of powering on from cold.

Any ideas what could be causing this? I can't even get to the BIOS to
check the settings.

What manual settings are the /correct/ ones for this CPU and which
would you recommend? (Assuming I can get it running long enough to
change them!).

Strange thing is that it ran for almost two hours the first time I
switched it on, and AsusProbe showed it was running at 39 - 40 degress
C.

Please help if you can!

How much output does your power supply deliver, not just peak wattage!
For instance, my 350W power supply only delivers 197W sustained but up
to 350W for a period of max 7 sec. Then it overheats and shuts the
computer down (which is in accordance with its specification).

Thanks everyone.
A new power supply - nice sturdy 550W one- has sorted all the problems.

No more cheap £15 psu's for me!
