Hi,

Has anyone tried AMD Barton cpus with this mainboard version 1.04 and what
is the max. it will work to.

I'm considering a PU-DLS. Can it run 3.2GHz Xeons? Or are the
533FSB 3.06GHz Xeons the max for this board?

The answer is on the web site:
http://usa.asus.com/products/server/srv-mb/pu-dls/overview.htm

Not to start anything here, but did you even look at their website?

On this web page, you can either look up what processors work with
a given motherboard (which changes with time, as BIOS support is
added), or conversely, for a given processor, you can check to
see which motherboards support it:

http://www.asus.com.tw/support/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx

A 3.2GHz Xeon (1MB cache) is supported by the following:

Model Board Rev BIOS
PC-DL Deluxe 1.03 1003
PP-DLW 1.03 027
PR-DLS533 2.01 1008
PU-DL 1.03 1006
PU-DLS 1.02 1006

Would a Supermicro board give you better tech support ?

HTH,
Paul

| Uh, yeah I did.

Not well enough, you were GIVEN the url in another post, it sure looks
like an ASUS site to me.

I even downloaded the pdf manual and it said 3.06
| max. But that doesn't mean that it won't support 3.2 with a newer
| bios.

Thats right, the manual is a bit dated.

The website and the manual didn't tell me that, dickwad.

The website DID! you just didnt look hard enough.
He starts off 'not to start anything here' and you call him dickwad,
when your the one who's wrong...

Amazing who they let on the internet these days...

So I
| asked here.

And the relevant ANSWER that was GIVEN to you HERE was taken FROM the
WEBSITE.

go figure.

It depends how fast you can run your fsb at now - what ever you can reach is
as fast as it will go. The difference apparently between the rev 1.x and
2.0 is that the rev 2.0s have another divider to get the pci/agp in spec for
166fsb. Not having this divider the rev 1.04 will only go as fast as the
pci/agp can manage.

If you do not have an unlocked barton I seriously would think about it,
unless it is part of an upgrade path, as if it was locked and you were lucky
with the fsb and get it to 166mhz - the best you could get is a standard
barton 2500+.

Ahh, nice to see Corporate America is still as anal as always.

You do realize with your petulance, and public disdain for others, who
were only trying to help you (Leythos), doesnt help your business, if
your going to be a 'dickwad' (to use your words) on the internet, I
suggest you stop doing it from your business address or at least pull
the rest out of your .sig

Oh, and welcome to the world of 'my words are archived for eternity, and
others will judge me by them'

I asked my clients and they all said that self-proclaimed usenet-nazis
really should take my advice and **** off. The customer is always right.

Too bad that they're all in your head.

I had a V1.04 board, that ran fine with a 2800+ Barton. FSB was 166 and also
had the correct divider for PCI/AGP. Did not have to do anything to unlock
the CPU or anything else. Just plug in and go.
