I have yet to be able to get this processor to load on this board. I have
updated the BIOS to version 1016 which was suppoed to update the CPU specs,
but this didn't work. I get the prompt at boot to select the processor
speed and choose 2000, then save and it tries to start Windows, but just
hangs at the start-up screen. No overclocking and most settings on the
board are auto.

Any thoughts? Thanks!!

You'll need a new Heatsink with copper.

The copper heatsink is certainly advisible but at stock speeds even the
retail box fan would be fine. You might not be giving it enough juice and if
the Power Supply Unit it rated at 300W or less you should think about
upgrading this part. There are 400W units avalable for as low as $40 on line
and retial a good one would run you about $60-$80. An extremely wise
investment.

Other than that you're kind of shy on details so it could be any number of
other problems

Same thing happened when I installed the same CPU on my 1.01 board. My
fix was to change the DDR voltage jumpers (JP1 and JP2) back to their
factory settings, which according to Mushkin supplies voltage that is
out of spec. See the URL below for details.

you could also try to download a knoppix cdrom iso and use this to boot your
system.
If this works fine then it is a software issue, if not then use the voltage
settings mentioned earlier.
