In control panel, then 'hardware devices', w.(XP Pro), how is
the hardware device description supposed to read for firewire? I
have no firewire device showing as 'firewire' and yet there is
one device as 'unknown'. My guess is this was supposed to be the
firewire channel, right? I have VIA Hyperion 4.51 4in1 drivers
loaded with a7v333 v10.17 bios. I've tried removing the device
but it keeps coming back the same as 'unknown'. 2100+ cpu. Any
fixes that actually have worked for others will be appreciated.

The firewire controller with sp1 installed on my system shows under IEEE
1394 Bus host controllers as Texas Instruments ohci compliant IEEE 1394 Host
Controller it is not listed as firewire persay

The 'unknown device' in device manager seems to be not
removable. I tried removing it from safe mode. I looked at a
file called 'setupapi.log' and saw quite a few failed lines but
could not make heads or tails of that, over my head! I looked at
the ghost (or whatever it it) device's properties, and no driver
is associated with it. What the heck is this unknown network
device thing? I did unable it, but I want it gone. Anyone?
