I just installed a WD 120gb hard drive into my A7V133, and almost right away
the computer would begin locking up when accessing the drive.

I was copying files to it, and the computer just froze, etc.

I ran all the SMART checks and everything is fine there, so I don't know
what to think.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I'd like to at least attempt to figure this out before I take it back and
exchange it.

Thanks

Nothing puts a load on a PSU like an extra HDD. If the PSU was near
its breaking point you would get the exact results you describe.

Do you have the latest BIOS? (1009 or 1010.01b)

Tom

This on the VIA or promise controller? What OS? Does BIOS see
correct size?
You using the 80 wire cable, and not the 40 wire of old drive? ;)

I have the latest BIOS, and yes it sees the drive.

It's connected to the Promise controller as a master on the secondary.

I also have the correct cables, and they are new.

And I have WinXP.

But, it looks like I'm going to end up taking it back for an exchange.
