I am trying to install a 160G HD and I cannot get to the bios to change the
boot up sequence.. any idea on why it does not show.. I am running XP pro
with all the SP and all the patches.

If you are installing a hard drive then how can you be running XP Pro
already?
also you say with all the SP.
There is only one SP.

I have an A7V, possibly I can help.
1) the A7V can have up to 6 drives. There is the standard IDE controller
provided with most motherboards w/ a primary and secondary each with a
master and slave, that's 4 drives. There is also a Promethius ATA-100
controller (on motherboard chip) with primary and secondary ability, that's
2 more making it 6 drives.
2) It should be noted that the ATA-100 is not reporeted by the Award BIOS
because it has a separate BIOS like a SCSI card BIOS.
3) Only the standard IDE shows up in the Award BIOS and ATA-100 will report
as [none] if your new hard drive is on the ATA-100 controller.
4) The boot sequence for the ATA-100 does however appear in the Award BIOS
under "BOOT tab. Note that the wording and selections have changed from
time to time on later BIOS's and do not match the owner's manual. Mine
changed with each new BIOS. With Ver 1011 you will find 4 boot sequence
entries, the one marked "Other" can be moved to 1,2,3, or 4th in sequence.
You will find a selection for [ATA-100/SCSI] as a pick under "Other".
That's what you want if you have connected your new drive to the ATA-100
controller. Be sure to use the correct cable type the standard IDE and
ATA-100 cables are different. When you go to ASUS to get BIOS 1011, be sure
to download the latest ATA-100 driver which is required for XP and larger
drives. While you are there, also get the latest 4 in 1 driver.

Please post your finding so we all can benefit.

You mean Promise controller. You won't find any drivers for
'promethius' ;)
