Hi,
I recently added two USB devices to my setup, and encountered an old
problem to which I can't find a real solution.

I own an Asus A7V (first series, revision 1.02) and use Windows XP
Professional.
My A7V came with the famous 3-port USB addon.

The two built-in USB ports work fine.
Also the middle port in the addon works fine, but the other two do not:
whatever device I plug in, either it does not work at all, or it works
erratically (e.g. my digital camera turns on, it's seen by WinXP for a few
seconds, then disappears from the system, although it still stays powered
on).

As suggested in the manual, I connected both cables of the addon, to USB3A
and USBPORT.
I also tried connecting them to USB3A and USB3, but this way not even the
middle port works anymore. I tried this because, judging on the "Component
Locations" picture at the beginning of the manual, USB ports 4-6 are said
to be represented by item #12, and #12 in the picture points at
USB3A+USB3.

The cables can be connected only in one way, so it's impossible I did any
mistake.

Windows XP has all updates installed. I also installed the latest VIA
drivers currently available.

It doesn't seem to be a power problem, because also devices which take
power externally do not work (Epson scanner and printer), and as I
reported before my digital camera receives power.

Can anyone point me to a solution, other than buying a third-party USB
addon? All solutions I found on Google are centered on correctly
connecting the cables, but I already checked that.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Mine would not work either. :-(

Hopefully someone has found a solution. I brought a cheap add-in dual
usb 2.0 and ieee1394, that is working great.
