Hello,

I've installed one of those yesterday ( A7S8X-MX), had loads of problems,
especially with the FSB (I eventually read the FAQ on the vendor's wensite,
and the manual had the settings wrong).

No wonder I couldn't understand why the Duron I put in would boot when set
at 166mhz and not at 100mhz.

I gave up and put in an XP, unwittingly set at 100mhz (not understanding why
it ran so slow...I'm slow too). Anyway, had a hell of a time, wouldn't boot,
according to the one long beep, the memory was supposedly crooked.
Eventually I switched it off, unplugged it, waited a while for meself to
cool down and gave it another try.

This time it booted okay and I managed to install everyting. Shut it down,
unplugged it, waited, tried again to see if it would start acting up again.
But, everything seemed to be okay. Finished the install and gave to the
person I was putting it together for.

Now, what happened here? Is it going to act up again (refuse to POST)?

I'm worried I gave someone a faulty motherboard or something.

Plus, I have to go back there and set the jumper properly (it's still at
100mhz, I set the memory at 133mhz).

Underclocking the CPU shouldn't cause any problems right?

Cool eh?

There is quite a performance boost with FSB 166 compared to 100. I built one
of these last week and I also had the long beep but only after I had been in
the bios to set it to 166.

It runs great and with no problems at all.

Thanks for the reply, you got the beep after you set the FSB to 166 in the
BIOS?
