Matt

I am about to install Redhat 9 on my homebuilt machine which is using an
Asus A7N8X motherboard. I am a little concerned about whether or not Linux
will recognize my on-board NIC and sound card. Anyone have some experience
with this?

TIA,
Matt

The problem probably wont be RH detecting your HD.. unlikely, though I
cant say either way for sure... but a whole different problem altogether.

Check out the thread titled:

Re: Asus A7N8X-X and Linux, getting pretty desperate...

On this newsgroup.

I run Fedora Core and SuSE 9 on my A7N8X Deluxe, and it works fine. Onboard
sound was detected ok, and same for the (Realtek) LAN. Haven't tried the
NVidia LAN but I don't remember it being detected.

You will need to download the nVidia nForce Linux drivers and you may also
need the kernel source code installed to get the NIC and audio running.

I am running Mandrake 9.2 on my A7N8X and have no problems. I do need to
reload/recompile some drivers whenever I upgrade my kernel, but it's
relatively painless.
