When I updated the BIOS, powered down, got into the BIOS, and loaded the
setup defaults. Powered down again, and it would never let me into the
BIOS again. A full screen image for the logo which said to hit [tab] to
see the POST screens does not work! I can no longer get into the setup.
I am using a keyboard through a KVM switch, and have never had problems
like this before.

Godwin's Law: As a USENET thread grows, the probability of a reference
to Hitler or Nazis approaches 1.00.
Corollary: When such a reference is made, it is generally
recognized that the poster has LOST the argument.

BTW I can boot into DOS or Linux just fine. I just can't get into the
setup to change parameters...

Just out of curiosity, where did you get the 1011 bios? I can only see 1009,
nothing present in beta section..

The a7V8x-x has a 1011 bios, but the a7N8x-x doesnt.... Sure you didnt flash
with the wrong bios -that usually leads to some problems, a dead mobo in
most cases ..?

Yup, it does....

Thats for the a7n8x-E deluxe, Andy wrote he had a a7n8x-X , there is a
difference... My guess is that he flashed it with that bios or the one from
a7V8x board.. Quite a miracle it can still boot i think, although its from
same serie.

I would suggest to get the right bios, verify its the right bios and check
that you verified correctly, and then study bios flashing , and then flash
it with the RIGHT one :)

Yes I have, to no avail :(

Have you tried without the KVM switch?

ACCCCK!!! I meant A7V8X-X SORRY!

Just for kicks you might try a USB keyboard. Does the keyboard
eventually work correctly under DOS or Linux? You could try resetting
the CMOS by removing the power, battery, jumpering, etc. See your
manual.

I reset the CMOS in the classic way. For the next 10 boots, I was only able
to get into the BIOS once, presseing TAB repeatedly.

The keyboard works quite fine under windows and linux.

Had the same problem after upgrading the BIOS. Had to get someone to flash
it on another similar board.

To demonstrate the problem? Or is there a solution?

The only solution I know is « to get someone to flash
it on another similar board » or order another BIOS
