A7N8X. DVD ROM drive only IDE in system (I have SCSI drives for the rest).
Tried drive on primary and secondary channels. Drive jumpered for master.
Tried 3 cables (2 standard IDE and one 80 conductor-all new).
DVD drive detected in BIOS correctly. OS is Win98SE. IDE controller shows up
as standard Dual PCI IDE (? this correct?) with the primary and secondary
channels having Exclmation marks & Code 10.

Latest nVidia drivers. Driver disc that came with board does not seem to
have drivers for IDE either.

Anyone run this board with one non HDD IDE device?
What am I missing here?

Thank you for the time and information!

The standard Dual Channel IDE Controller is correct... the exclamation marks
probably aren't.

I'd suggest installing the nVidia Forceware 3.13s with the SW IDE driver.

If that doesn't work, try reinstalling without the SW IDE driver.

Nope... the MS usually suffice, but last week nVidia released the 3.13s with
a new SW IDE driver.

The exclamation marks are showing you the problem. But not sure what is
causing it.

Oops. I already those driver downloaded and installed. This is not a fresh
install, this is an upgrade from an EPOX 8K7A. I removed most everything in
safe mode when I switched, but perhaps there are still some VIA hold outs ;)

Time to start digging....
