I have a problem with my new A7N8X-VM mb and the integrated GeForce4 MX GPU.
I've installed Windows XP Pro and the system is very unstable. The display
shows some stripes, often a stripe close to the mouse-pointer. When I try to
change the resoultion the computer crashes (just turns off and restarts) and
this also happens often when I starts different programs.
First I used the driver which came withe the CD-ROM. I've downloaded the
latest driver from nvidia.com but it doesn't help. I've also upgraded the
BIOS.
When I put in an old AGP card I have everything works fine. Have anyone else
experienced this problem (and solved it)?

I also had a problem withe the onboard LAN. It just wouldn't connect to the
internet. I solved this by doing the following:
First I wrote down a "number" (it did contain some letters) located at the
black "floppy-cable-socket". Then in "Device Manager" I found the network
adapter, selected properties, and under "Advanced" I filled in the "number"
I wrote down as the value for "Network Address". I found this solution
somewhere on the usenet.

I hope someone can help me with my graphic problem.

Can't help with the AGP. Mine works fine in ME.

The network thing, though is a known issue. As well as your solution,
there is a utility around that can reset the BIOS back to the proper
value. Then you don;t have to worry about Windows losing the settings.

I *think* I found the link to this on the nForcer noticeboard:

I am having the same problem. It is like programs and graphics are
writing to the same memory space and sooner or later they step on each
other and the system hangs, reboots or generates a stop error.

Have you resolved this yet?

Please let me know

I have the same board and had the exact same problems as you with both
the LAN and the Graphics. I just exchanged the board with ASUS and
the new board has exactly the same problems. Thanks for the tip on
the LAN that got it working. The graphics I found work and are much
more stable if you do not upgrade to Windows Media Player 9.
Everything worked with a clean install and no WM9, once I upgraded to
9 everything went to hell in a handbasket. Any streaming media I
tried to play was a non starter. I guess I 'll be keeping it in WMP8
for a while. Also a new set of drivers came out on October 23rd from
NVIDIA that I have installed.

Correction, I'm finding that although the problems with the GPU are
not as blatent as with Windows Media 9, it is still very problematic.
I gave up and bought a video card and have no problems.
