Hi all,

Has anyone who has upgraded to the 1007 BIOS discovered any issues with the
time when in Windows? I have found that both my machines (1 is a R1.03 the
other a R2) can gain as much as 4-5 minutes an hour.

Sorry if this has been raised in the past.

AT,
I've run a few different BIOS versions and found that the board itself
keeps time OK but when coupled with Windows, which can/does adjust the
BIOS's time, it can get some noticeable shifts. If your running XP,
download a fix from here, http://www.dougknox.com/
that will allow you to automatically update the time over the internet
more often than weekly. That should keep you more accurate. Isn't it
funny, how Microsoft saw the need to setup a time server for this
purpose, in support of their products!

Yes, I have noticed the same problem with my A7N8X Deluxe 1.04.
It's a VERY intermittant problem. Seems to happen randomly, maybe once every
couple of weeks.
I havent been able to figure out what triggers it.
When it happens, I have to reboot, then it's fine.

The "fix" of using the XP time server to correct the problem more frequently
doesn't really help with a time shift of this magnitude. The reason is
because it plays havoc with the timinig of some programs. For example, when
my board/xp shifts into "accelerated time", Tmpgenc will give errors when
you try to encode. Additionally, it happened one time, and I was playing
Madden 2003. The came became impossibly fast! It was totally bizarre! Again,
rebooting fixed the problem.

This is a very strange issue. It's also a very common one with the A7N8X and
XP. Ive seen MANY identical posts about this problem.
