Hi all,

I have an A7N8X Non-Deluxe with AthlonXP 2700 and 1Gb of DDR PC3200 Ram (2x
512Mb modules).

Am I getting the best performance with these BIOS settings? Bios is revision
1002.A, I believe:

CPU External Frequency: 166Mhz
Multiplier Settings: Auto
Multiple: 13.0x
System Performance: User Defined
CPU Interface: Normal
Memory Frequency: 100%
Resulting Frequency: 166Mhz
Memory Timings: Optimal

I seem to think I am not getting enough out of it as I should - what
settings should I change? Not interested in overclocking!

Also - probably totally different question here - I have the setting
"Graphics Aperture Size" set to 64Mb. I have an Ati Radeon 9700 Pro with
128Mb Ram - have I got that set wrong too?

Thanks,
D.

Well you could set Memory Frequency to SPD then it would run the ram @
200MHz with PC3200, but this would run the CPU bus and Ram bus out of
sync which in some cases is said to give you less stability and possibly
less performance overall.

Graphics Aperture Size, hmmmmm? www.rojakpot.com says... It's best to
keep the aperture size in the 64MB-128MB range so that the GART
(Graphics Address Relocation Table) won't become too big. As the amount
of local memory on graphics cards increases and texture compression
becomes commonplace, there's less of a need for the AGP aperture size to
grow beyond 64MB

ATI , says.... http://www.ati.com/support/faq/cmosagp.html
Tweak3D says... http://www.tweak3d.net/articles/aperture-size

CPU Interface when set to Optimal will give you a little better ram
bandwidth over the Normal setting, your choice. ;p
