A7N8X-E single-drive SATA only formats as Dynamic disk?

I want to use a single SATA disk on my A7N8X-E's SiG3112a RAID
controller. I've installed all the requisite drivers and it showed up
in XP_Pro's Computer Management.

But oddly I was not given the option to format the drive as a Basic
drive, only as a Dynamic one (no other options in Drive Management
were available). I'd prefer to use a Basic drive because of the
backup/utility advantages.

Is this normal? I didn't use the SiG BIOS to create a RAID array,
though I've heard some people have created a "single-drive array".
Should I?

Thanks for any ideas.

You might have to.. I suspect it only gives you the option to format as
a dynamic disk if the drive doesn't show as a BIOS-bootable device,
which likely happens if it's not configured as any array..

Thanks! As a data drive it seems fine as is. I guess I'll deal with it
when I try to install an OS on it. :)
