Hello all. Just 2 quick questions here. I am using a 4 speaker analog
config on that motherboard. Everything is fine volume-wise except
sometimes in WinDVD (the version that came with the mobo) I get a
volume drop while watching a DVD movie. I think it's mostly in center
speaker downmix (dialog). Anybody get that also? I am thinking it
could be directsound but I am not sure.

Also, when recording line-in (analog), I get a tad of system noise
that register on the nVidia eq. Anybody else has that problem too?

(trying to figure out if issues are related).

Thanks for any info! cheers!

A little bit of what seems like progress:

The sound drop occurs at the same place in the movie. For one
instance, it appears that the sound drop was right after a car crash
in the movie, which I think was supposed to activate the subwoofer
(low freq) in an agressive way. So I am now wondering if the sound
drop is due to clipping (overload of a 'channel' in the downmix to 4
channel output).

Perhaps the audio processor 'protects' itself by reducing the amount
of volume when clipping occurs. This is just a theory.
