a7n8x deluxe, How do i turn off the vocal error message as i get the
following message when playing games only "system failed cpu test".

I have tried different cpus and they r all the same error.
Its not overclocked in any way and still does it on default settings.Even
have newest bios version and temps are 25oc idle and 39 on load.

Any ideas welcome ,thanks very much indeed.

In the Bios settings under advanced bios features, POST complete Report
[Enabled], set to Disabled

Speech POST Reporter[Enabled], set to disabled
Also if you use a soundcard and not the onboard sound then you will not hear
it as it only comes out the onboard line out/speaker connector(socket).

this is already diabled and speech post reporter is diabled.
thanks for that ,

any other ideas please

You can install the Winbond voice editor from the CD that came with your
motherboard. Run it and find the second message from the top. It will be
highlighted in red. Delete it and then burn it to cmos. It will stop the
message, but not the problem. I turned mine off like that, but have now
turned it back on so I can eliminate the real cause.

To eliminate the problem, I think you need to upgrade your power supply.
The problem is that your 3.3V to the CPU is fluctuating out of range. To
prove this, run Asus Probe and watch the 3.3V for awhile. Especially while
playing your game. You can set it to record in the background while you
play. If it shows a zigzag line, on the 3.3V rail. that may well be your
problem. I have the same problem on my machine although the power supply is
a Powmax 500W. I have ordered an Antec Trupower 550 and am waiting for it.

Another thing you might try is pull the mobo out of the case and hook it up
on the bench. Just to make sure there are no mobo-to-case shorts. If it's
clean on the bench, then use insulated standoffs to mount it in the case.
It grounds thru the power supply anyway as well as the
plate on the back panel has little tabs. I plan on doing this as soon as
the new power supply arrives. Meanwhile, I am playing Return to Castle
Wolfenstein and listening to
system failed CPU test
system failed CPU test
BANG, BANG, Ohhhhh
system failed CPU test
system failed CPU test
system failed CPU test
