A7N8X-DX and Firewire

I can work great with this mobo system and my DV camera through the
FiWi but can't seem to talk to another computer with it.. My Epox
system and laptop can transfer files in the 400mbs speeds but not this
one..

Ben suggested a patch file (thanks!) that seemed to help to connect
the vid cam better but still no joy with another computer.

Anyone out there know what I might be missing?

I tend to do my vid work on the epox AMD2200 8500DV machine while
working online or gaming on the Asus AMD3000 aiw 9700Pro system.. when
the vid work is finished, I tranfer it back to the Asus machine for
post production work.. Currently using the LAN system at 100 mbs, but
the FiWi would be sweeter..

I'm not sure about Firewire but every other serial protocol that I'm
aware of has this issue. There is an understanding about which wire
the data is sent on and which data it is received on. If you want to
connect two computers together without going through a hub, then you
must use a crossover cable. If you look at USB cables there is the
same distinction. I suspect that connecting two computers together on
firewire won't work unless you have a firewore cable designed for
crossover.

Yet it works perfect well between the laptop and the Epox Mobo (add on
FiWi card)...

Have you been flashing the BIOS ? Maybe the NVGUID number got messed
up. See this article...

Thanks Paul, though an interesting read (albeit confusing) it has
little relation to my problem whereas the DHCP works, the LAN works
and the FiWi does work, I can tranfer from DV to PC, just not from PC
to PC.

My board is Rev2 and I haven't flashed the BIOS as I was told "If it
ain't broke, don't fix it.." So I haven't tooled with the BIOS.
