Correction to my previous posting:
Is it compatible with Pcb 1.04 or Pcb 2.0?

The question is because someone tried to sell it to me along with a Pcb 2.0
mobo.
He claimed that this combination/bundle works but the he didn't know whether
is compatible with pcb 1.04.

Thanks

The only info I've got came from here:

http://ftp.ncku.edu.tw/Vendors/ASUS/datasheet/ipanel.zip

There are connections labelled AFPANEL and AAPANEL. I think
the CUSL2-C was i-Panel compatible and the manual I got a while
back was this one:

http://www.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/sock370/815ep/cusl2-c/cusl2c-104.pdf

The AAPANEL is a 2x5 connector, but the pinout is slightly different
than FPAUDIO1 on the A7N8X. The key (missing pin) is also in a
different location. Without a key block in the cable, if you could
even mate the i-Panel cable to the FPAUDIO1 header, I would expect
the microphone to not work, but maybe the speakers still would.

The AFPANEL connector has some key signals, such as SMBDATA, SMBCLK,
EXTSMI#, and a ground. These are part of the System Management bus
and a slow stream of serial data over the SMBDATA line is what
drives the i-Panel display. The update timer uses the EXTSMI line
to interrupt the motherboard processor and ask for an update.
If these signals and the AFPANEL header are not available on
your motherboard, you can still use the USB ports, the audio
(with some rewiring :-( ), and so on, but the display won't work.

The A7N8X has an SMBUS connector (1x6), but the EXTSMI pin is
missing, so you cannot even hack it.

So, my guess is the i-Panel is 50% compatible with the A7N8X :-)))
