Answered elsewhere but would like an update if poss.
I have an A7N8X Deluxe V2.0 with an AMD XP2800
I am looking to upgrade my memory from 2 x 256MB to 1GB.

Have been advised to buy 2 x 512MB

What make would you recommend, speed etc.
Where from? buying in UK

Personally I've had nice success with Kingston Value ram in all flavours
(pc2100,2700 and 3200) in various combinations at 166MHz (ddr333) speed. I
now run 2 512MB modules at cas2,5. The sticks are bought individually and
with years between manufacturing date, so matched ram is not so important.

I am only have 2 256 sticks.. But they are twinmos and work fine @ 200 &
cas 2.5 .. I think the timings are currently 2.5,3,3,5(Tras)..
I dont know how the 512 sticks from twinmos would hold up.. But I say
google it and you can probably find some good idea of what people had luck
with in the past doing this upgrade.

Can't go wrong with Crucial, IME. Reasonable (not cheapest) price, good
quality, good warranty, instant delivery, guaranteed to work if you go
through their memory selector. That's www.crucial.com/uk, iirc.

You =could= try just moving the 2*256 to the paired sockets and adding
1*512 on the other channel .. it'll probably work and it'll save you a
few quid if it does (unless you have some reasonable use for the 2*256
in a different machine). If it doesn't work you are no worse off.

Always run memtest86 (or equivalent) after messing with memory. So much
easier than debugging complicated OS crashes, and corrupt hard
drives....
