Any ideas how to get sound out of this board.Tried Nvidia drivers and Asus
ones but can't get a peep out of it.Rev 2.0.
Any help appreciated.
Simon.

Oh ok,well from the 2 different websites then.Nothing wrong with the audio
cable and speakers BTW.Is this likely to be a motherboard fault?
Simon.

Yes to both.
Also have made sure nothing is muted, volume levels are up and digital turned
off on the CD.
Simon.

Are you using Nvidia nForce control panel?
Analog or digital output?
2, 4, or 6 speakers?
Have you got front speaker jack(s) on your case?
If so, are they connected to the pins on the board?
Check to see if there are 2 jumper caps on FPAUDIO1 on the board.
For rear(normal connectors) the jumpers should be on, for front sockets the
jumpers should be off.
My board did not come with jumpers on and still does not have them but my
rear jacks work.

Stereo system/2 speakers

Disconnected them to see if that was the problem, connected them
meself, though there were no jumpers I remember on there...

Nope, and only thing I could see in manual on this is the photo of the board
on page 5.Put them in as shown there and now I have sound, you're a
genius!Thanks!

All right for some :-).

Regarding the jumpers, a lot of people had the same probs and not all boards
come with the jumpers fitted.
The other prblem seems to be that not all the manuals tell you about the
jumpers.
Mine does not and I even emailed Asus and they told me thast the jumper caps
have to be on for rear audio.
As I said, I hasve never fitted the caps and my normal audio jacks work ok.
Why I do not know as there are no caps on the pins.

If you read through this NG, you will find MANY folks complaining
about sound problems. I installed my board on an extra Enlight case
(prior to moving it to my working Enlight case) and the sound worked
without a hitch. After moving the board to my "working" case, I was
never able to get a sound from the on-board audio. I went through all
of the checks and could find nothing wrong. Rather then keep battling
this, I threw in a spare SB Live card, which worked just fine.

From what I have read so far, the primary problem seems to be
associated with grounding between the MB and the case. There was
another person in this NG who mentioned solving his problem by placing
cardboard spacers on his standoffs. Go figure! Another poster found an
unused standoff which was interfering with the sound. These are not
the only solutions. Another poster got their sound working properly
after rolling back their overclock settings.

Don't forget if the jumper caps are not fitted then no sound from the
onboard audio jacks.
Those jumpers connect the onboard audio to the normal jacks and are off for
front mounted jacks(if connected)
Saying that, my board came without the jumpers and still sends audio to the
normal onboard jacks.
Asus tells me I have to have the jumper caps on the pins to get sound on the
onboard jacks but if so then why do I get sound on the onboard jacks without
them?
There is nothing in my manual to say about the fitting of the two jumper
caps.(A7N8X dlx rev 2.0, bios latest bios).
