Hello all:

I'm having intermitent problems. The ps/2 keyboard either stops working or
starts beeping. This at random and also happens when I'm in the BIOS, before
loading the OS. Otherwise everything works ok. Last bios update is 1006. I
have a friend with the same board and his keyboard simply stopped working.
He is now using a USB keyboard , but the ps/2 does not work on his board at
all.

Anybody has had this problem?

I have 2 on two different KVM's and have not had that trouble..
Shipped with BIOS 1003 and 1006.

No problem like that for me yet.

You are saying that the PS2 does NOT work but USB WILL?

I'd first checkout the BIOS real good and check for improper settings,
anything you are NOT using needs to be turned off. I have seen many times on
this newsgroup, where a BIOS setting left to automatic, or left on when it
should have been off has caused problems.

That IS odd, I have seen the opposite, (USB would not work, but PS2 would)
but not a non functional PS2. Could the keyboard controller chip be bad?
Maybe ASUS got a bad batch? The board is under warranty with ASUS I'd give
them a call, I have heard that email tech support is non existent, but that
they do have some people that know their $hit on the phones. If they can't
fix it I'd RMA the board for a fix or replacement.
Good Luck, hope this helps.

Check your ground.
It is the spring on the mobo that contacts the ps connector.

Coco,

I had a similar incident with a brand new P4C800-E. The PS/2 keyboard
was sometimes intermittent and the PS/2 mouse plain old didn't work. I
finally RMA'd the board after wasting the better part of 2 weeks
thinking this was a "Windows" problem.
