I am running the A7N8X-Deluxe ver2.0
AMD XP 2500+ Barton

I have the power light on, but don't have any cpu fan running or entering
post.

I am trying to build a computer for son for Christmas and everything appears
to have went in according to Hoyle, but when I turn on power I get
motherboard telling me it has power, but nothing else happens, no POST, no
fans.

any ideas?

thanks

Do you have the CPU heatsink fan lead connected to the CPU Fan header which
is located next to the top of the 3rd DIMM slot closest to the edge of the
board. If the CPU fan is connected to any of the other headers other than
that spicific header the board will not boot period. The header is labeled
CPU FAN1.

You may want to check to see if you have cooling paste between the CPU and
the Heatsink. And according to AMD, you want to have a thin layer of it too,
do not cake it on. Check out these Video's on the AMD site, they help with
CPU and system installs. I had the same problem as you when building my
system. Asus A7N8X-Deluxe, AMD XP 2500+ Barton.
