Hi Asus gurus,

I would like to use the Q-Fan function on my Asus A7N8X Deluxe but I
have connectors problem. On this board, there are three connectors :

CPU_FAN1, PWR_FAN1 & CHA_FAN1

According BIOS information, Q-Fan control is only on PWR_FAN1
connector but I need to connect :

- CPU
- Power
- Case

So I would like to know where I must connect each fan to do the best
use of Q-Fan control.

Thanks for your help. Didier.

All support Q-Fan, you need 3 wire fans. CHA_FAN1 is case, next to
PWR_FAN1. CPU_FAN is at the "top" of the board near the CPU.

This may depend on which version of the board they have and possibly which
bios is installed. With my rev 1.06, I need to use the header labled
PWR_Fan to use Q-Fan.

I should be in this case.

So which fan do you connect to the PWR_Fan ? I assume it should be the
processor fan.

If I am right, is it possible to just swap cpu and power and connect
the power fan to the CPU_Fan connector ?

Regards. Didier.

Yes, put the CPU fan to the PWR_Fan header. As long as the fan doesnt draw
too much current you can plug it onto any of the headers and the board wont
care. If you have a large power supply fan you may want to use an adapter
cable to power tyhe fan from a drive header and pass the rpm signal to the
motherboard fan header.

I think I saw somewhere a figure of 400ma for each header as a max but I
could be wrong. I'll see if I can find it.

(A7N8X Deluxe manual)
Three fan connectors support cooling fans of 350mA (4.2 Watts) or less.

(A7N8X Non-Deluxe manual)
The fan connectors support cooling fans of 350mA-740mA
(8.88W max.) or a total of 1A-2.22A (26.64W max.) at +12V.

Cheers,
Ed
