My RTC runs a wee bit too fast (wee as in 20-30%) when I have the system fsb
set at 200, When it's at 166 then all is fine.

I dont think the basic RTC Circutry is bad as when it's battery fed it keeps
the time correctly. So wondering why the RTC would be affected by the FSB
(unless it's some kind of noise crossing over due to lack of proper
shielding?) ..

Has anyone else seen this problem or know of a fix to it..
All Comments/Suggestions welcome (Except those telling me to use a windows
time utility)
 
Seems to be common fault................
I get it happen every so often and have found that it happens if the pc
crashes or I go into Bios for anything......
I did solve it once by setting ram, fsb, and a few others to manual.
Out of interest I had happen a lot on my MSI board as well.

I had a go over that.. Have emailed ASUS and a couple of other sources too..
The problem with the NFQH thread is that you have like 3 discussions going
on.. Windows time, RTC, and the guys who have no clue :) .. the RTC is the
problem but I would need to speak to someone who REALLY knows what can
affect it for it to be of any help to me. I can only think that noise is
the only factor, but I dont know enough about electronics to know where I
could add in filters.

The theory that seems most plausible is the one suggesting "interrupt
storms". Some have noted effect after disabling certain devices on the mobo,
like f.ex nvidia sound or the nvidia nic.
I have this behaviour myself from time to time, but a reboot fixes it. At
certain FSB frequencies, though, I see this everytime. Have tried mailing
Asus as well, no answer.

Aye.. I mailed them about it too..
I have bene stable now for probably 3 days (pc has been on the full time)
and no RTC deviation has really happen'd.. I have the onboard sound disabled
but I did wonder if it could be some other device.. Asus have been great
with me in the past for sending information back, but they totally ignored
my e mail to them on this situ so that nearly confirms to me that there is
a problem. If I could Sync the RTC back to the core RTC circut every say 20
seconds then I wouldnt be too bother'd.. I guess it just means try new
things and hope it works ;(.
