A7N8X CPU upgrade problem?

I have a 1.04 version A7N8X Deluxe board that's been very stable using
a 2400+ CPU. I have the new 1008 BIOS installed.

I just stuck in a 3200+ CPU with PC3200 Crucial memory. The system
boots normally. However, when I have the FSB jumper set at 200mhz the
system becomes very unstable (mainly with my ATI video card). With
the jumper set at the 266/333mhz setting the system seems to be OK.
The CPU speed in BIOS reads as 200mhz in either case.

Can anyone explain what's happening here? I think that either I don't
understand the function of that jumper, or my system won't handle the
full speed. I'm confused.

Never mind... apparently my manual is out of date. I downloaded the
current one and that jumper is clearly identified as 400/333/266mhz on
one side and 200mhz on the other. I'd gotten myself confused and
mentally translated 200mhz to 400mhz which it obviously wasn't. But
since my old manual didn't even list 400mhz I think that just added to
the problem.

My only problem now is that while playing a game the sound just quit.
I had to reboot to get it back. I don't know if that was just a
coincidence or what. I reinstalled the nVidia 4.24 drivers just in
case. I'd need to test a lot longer to see if things are OK or not. It
could just be buggy game software too.

I have a Video/Sound driver conflict with my a7n8x system too..
to fix it I can just mute/unmute and it USUALLY kicks it back on

Thanks! If it happens again, I'll give that a try.
