Guys - This weekend I install a XP2500 on a A7N8X (new from Newegg).
The CPU is being detected as:
100MHz External CPU Freq.
@Multiplier = 11. (1.1GHz)

This is obviously way under spec!!! Fuxx!!
There is a jumper on the board which sets the FSB speed.
position 1-2(default): FSB(266/333/400)
position 3-2: FSB(200)
This jumper is in the default position.
It seems that the jumper is in position 3-2!
I will check the jumper for soldier splashes with DVM.

ANY THOUGHTS???

The BIOS will default to 100 Mhz. Change the CPU External Freq. setting
in the Advanced Chipset Features to 166 Mhz, this will give you a FSB of
333 Mhz. The 11x Multiplier is correct and might not change if you have
a CPU that is locked!

Yup!! OP says the jumper is in the default position, but he suspects it
may be shorted. If it were shorted to the FSB 200 MHz setting, that
might give him the 100 Mhz reading. Brand new board. Lets see what
happens if I completely clear my CMOS. Lookie here, it defaults to a
Ext. Freq. of 100 MHz (200 FSB). I set my A7N8X BIOS to an Ext. Freq.
of 166 Mhz and my XP 2500+ now works properly! Have you another idea?
If so, post it up. I'm willing to learn!

No other idea.. I just think that it was funny that the op is about to start
probing the mobo before he takes the time to read the book that came with
his motherboard.

Ahh! Sorry if I seemed cross. I forgot about the RTFM phenomenon!
