Hi all,

after a power outage (blackout, blown fuse etc) my A7N8X - Dlx will
start up, even if it was turned off prior to the outage.

Any advice on how to keep it turned off?

Thanks...

There is usually a setting in the bios for this. Did you RTFM? According
to the A7N8X-Deluxe manual on the Asus site, the answer to your question is
on Page 62. "AC Power Loss Re-Start" in the Power Management section of the
bios.

thanks for reply, Jim.

As luck would have it I did RTFM.
I also searched the inet before posting here as a last resort.

My PM settings (other than "Video Off Method" and "PWR button < 4 secs") are
disabled.

Any other suggestions welcomed :)

Try turning off Wake-On-LAN. Even though it shouldn't have anything to do
with it it sorted my system out.

The suggestion about turning off wake on lan is a good one, as a matter of
fact that is why they have so much in the manual about BIOS setup. It's very
advisable to completely setup your BIOS and specifically turn off anything
you are not using, no "auto" or anything else but off. ASUS did a pretty
good job in the manual when it comes to explaining the BIOS setup.
I usually go through every page in the bios, even if I don't completely
understand the setting, if I can't figure out what a setting does, I'll do a
google search on it. There are some websites that explain what every setting
does and usually what to set it to. Some are motherboard specific and some
are general, but they all are helpful. Good Luck,
Hope this helps,

Oh, one other thing, do yourself a favor and get an UPS, they are so cheap
now that everybody should have one. That would eliminate your problem, cause
you'd never have a power interruption, and it keeps you from having improper
shutdowns, which no machine or OS likes.

There probably aren't any better than this:

thanks for replies, all.

Been through all the suggestions, except for the ups - can I get one that will
protect 6 clients?

The Asus board still does it, but I only use that cl for games so I'll turn it
off at the wall when not in use and see how that goes, lol.
