I recently started to build a PC using the A7N266-VM as the basis, it's only
cheap system for a mate.

Anyway I've got a problem, I get a long intermittent beep when I turn the
base unit on. I had a look for the beep codes on the ASUS site but the
knowledge base seems pretty poor. So has anybody got any ideas? I'm thinking
RAM but as I haven't got any more RAM, of the same type, lying around. I
can't easily test it.

Thanks for your help.

Well it would appear so. I have looked at all them all and they all appear
to be seated correctly.

And all the small cables are in right places (speaker, HDD led, etc). For
me it took couple of hours to figure out why the system didn't boot up
(P4PE) - I just had looked from manual how they should be and then I
connect one of those in wrong place... Just a long beep and nothing more,
untill I fixed it... And you have also checked video card carefully -
sometimes it just won't get contact properly - and memory chips too...

On Chapter 3-1 on page 58 of the manual it says that:

"Long beep in an endless loop" means "No DRAM installed or detected"

You might want to check that and other options on that page on the manual.

Good luck!
