Can anybody tell me if it is possible to fit an AMD Athlon 2400+ CPU to an
A7M266 ?

It may be possible with tweaks. The 2100+ is what I have been using and
think that is the best you can put in this board.

You can check this forum. I think some have gotten higher cpu's to work.

Just tried the forum and hope it is temporarily down. Lots of good info to
be found there.

To Original Poster: It's true that you may be able to get a 2400+ to
work, BUT, and this is a huge "BUT," you must be willing to do some
soldering on your motherboard, which will void any warranty you might
have left and may ruin your board. These tweaks are ONLY for those
very skilled at hardware modifications. There are no software
workarounds for this upgrade.
Also note that if you get a 2100+, it canNOT be the XP 2100+ based on
the Thoroughbred core. The A7M266 will work reliably only with the
now-very-difficult-to-find Palomino-core 2100+. IF you can find one
of these somewhere, I truly think that it's the best upgrade you can
realistically hope for. If you really need a 2400+ or faster CPU, I
think you'd be much better off with a new motherboard.
