Sorry to bother you with my old MB ^^ but i don't know where to ask my
specific question.... Maybe some of you always use an a7m266, or used it
before...

here it is:

I read in the a7m266 manual that it's possible to boot on a usb-fdd
devide. In this manual, the setting "usb-fdd" is possible in Boot section,
for "removable devices".

This setting is not in the list for me :(

I enabled all usb options in the bios.
I use latest official bios (1007).

If anybody is able to boot on a usb-key with this MB, or simply know it's
impossible, tell me !!!

thanks ^^

Senario A (the optimistic one): You need to flash a recent beta BIOS to get
that USB boot option there.
Problem: It's unlikely the printed manual would include reference to future
features.

Senario B (the pessimistic/realistic one): The manual editor just screwed up
badly and mentioned an option common enough in BIOSes generalyl but not
applicable to your board.

Possibility C: Enable 'USB legacy support' and 'boot from removable media'
(zip sounds a good option to try), with (more than a) bit of luck this might
work. I seriously doubt it will though.

Thanks for your answer ! But...

Scenario A : I've already tried latest beta BIOS. Actually, I had
the latest beta BIOS, and I downgraded to the last official one just in
case... But no ^^

Scenario B : Yes. It seems that's really the case after all :( But i can't
believe that my a7m266 is not able to do that :<

Scenario C: USB Legacy support is enabled, and no option "boot from
removable media", or I'm totally blind :(

I'm afraid it won't do it :(

Well rest assured you're not the only one :) My current Iwill DVD266u-RN
(even more recent than your A7M266) won't do it either. There's a utility
called modbin I think that can be used to unhide some BIOS options for Award
BIOSes, but I'm not even sure it works with the Award/Phoenix versions Asus
uses.
