I have a Canon Pixma 4200 printer and I am delighted with the results of
printing photographs. I only use Canon photo paper plus and Canon inks. I
was thinking about expanding to A3 prints and would like advice about
appropriate printers. I would prefer to stay with Canon unless I can be
convinced to the contrary.

I use Canon ink and Photo Paper Pro and Costco Kirkland Photo Glossy
full sheet that was made in Switzerland (believed to be Ilford). The
only difference I see between the two when examining them close up is
that the Canon paper appears to be a little smoother but at 1/7 of the
price the Costco paper is a much better value. I buy full sheets and
use a rotary (Fiskars) paper cutter to cut proof size and smaller prints.

I also like Epson heavey weight matte paper and have also use Ilford
Pearl. I find that I need to dumb down the reds a bit when using Ilford
Pearl.

This is not true...

Costco photo paper is made by Swisspaper SA. If you are using Canon
OEM ink, stick with Canon Paper then you know what you are geting. If
you don't use Canon Paper with your Canon Printer...you are no longer
using a Canon.
