[A07] Category appears in its own column rather than just as aseparate row. Waste of real estate.

Hi!

It's been so long since I've worked in Access and A07 is so different
from previous versions, I don't know how to fix this.

I have a report that is sorted by categories. That part works great.
The difficulty is that the 15 category names are taking up valuable
space in the report. How can I change it so that it just uses its own
row, rather than its own column.

In other database program that I've worked in, the body of the report
can be indented a few spaces in so that the categories stand out but
they don't take up so much room. Would like to get that here, too,
because the report is too cramped.

You should be able to add a group to the report based on categories and move
the category into the group header. Then in the detail section move the
controls to the left or right to get the indentation.

Thank you!! Yes, that was dumb. I was overwhelmed, I guess, when I
started this this morning, what with the new Access. But unlike the
other programs, I haven't done enough to have the darned ribbon throw
me off. It's still a darned ribbon, but the problems today weren't
attributed in any way to that.

I learned something, though. Esp. when being away from Access, we
really rely on those wizards. But what the wizards make isn't cast in
stone. Of course I knew this but it was daunting trying to get this
all down. But maybe the next time I'll remember that I can tweak
everything manually very easily and that it isn't as hard as it seemed
after being away from Access for so long.
