I have an HP zd8000 notebook. I have never even seen the inside of a
notebook. I know what memory I need to put in 1gb ram because I used the
free program CPUz, but I am wondering if there is somewhere on the web to
show me with pics how to change out the ram in a notebook, especially one
that appears to be all pci express. Well, I don't know if the ram is pci-e,
but everything else is.

The ram is not PCIe. You have to look up on the manufacturers website for a
manual, because the procedure is different from Notebook to Notebook. You
also have to check which kind of memory you should use for your particular
model.

There is no manual for this on the HP website. There are 2 dimm slots and I
was just going to put the same ram in there that is already in it, except
that it will be 1gb instead of 256mb.

I wouldn't suggest upgrading the RAM on your own with a HP notebook (or
for any notebook for that matter). The best way is to go back to HP to
ask them to upgrade for you.

Why not? It's fairly easy to do and much cheaper to buy
memory from a 3rd party... even crucial.com's memory is
typically significantly cheaper than from an OEM.
