A way to refresh all IE policy settings on a client workstation

We have been working with IE Policy settings for quite some time and before
that, we were importing values into the registry to make changes. As a
result, there are a number of static/orphaned entries in there that are
causing problems from time to time. Is there a way to reset all the setting
that control IE policy for both user and computer based settings and then
have the policy apply at the next restart. The best case would be to
potentially set a shutdown script up that resets all the settings. As the
machine is brought back up and the users logs on, it would refresh all these
IE machine and user settings with the policy. Any one have an idea? Is
there a tool to do this already?

If it's just about forcing the client to always re-apply the IE-GPs, you
could work with the following policy:

"CompConf\AdmTemp\System\System\Group Policy\Internet Explorer
Maintenance policy processing" and there: "Process even if the Group
Policy objects have not changed".

cheers,
