I would like to create a list of files on my computer for MY DOCUMENTS
folders that lists the total size of the folder plus number of files.
Can I do that?

How easily we forget the good old DOS days....
There are probably good windows utilities that will do this, but go to the
DOS window, and navigate to My Documents then type

DIR >Directory.txt

and you will get a file created that has a list of all the files, folders,
and sizes in My Directory.

OM, I've completed my meditation before I've got my socks on! I wanted to
know this, too, and I do remember DOS very well, but feel that Windows hates
having you know too much.

Can I tag on a related question? I want to know how to annotate the folders,
and know there is a comments column in the view, but it appears to only
apply to files and not to folders - am I missing something?

Folders cannot have Comments. Probably because folders do not have a
Summary tab.

To add a comment to a file

You can also select Track Number as a column header, that doesn't mean that
a *.txt file is going to have anything in that column.

I came onto computers after the DOS days (the part where I was poking
under the hood, I mean) and am not comfortable with DOS commands.
Surely there is some little program that lists this information? It
seems so basic and I'm very surprised that sort of thing isn't built
into Windows (as a little utility, w/o going to the DOS command.)

Thanks anyway. (If anybody else knows of such a program, please post
here.)
