I saw a Group discussion about:
Hard Drive file format changed from NTFS to Raw on reboot...

I have the same problem, but with my old win98 computer that is a Fat
HD format. I thought it was a virus that done this.
First I cleaned a couple on the drive, but then explorer stoped
working and crashed me a couple blue screens.

After rebooting it was the end.
I just see it as a RAW hard disk under a XP computer.
and it is detected in my bios.

DID YOU KNOW A SOLUTION TO GET MY DATA BACK ?

I have a lot of important files on this drive...

let me know please !

Likelihood of recovery from this depends largely on the virus that "ate" the
FAT on your hard disk. Some trash the FAT and partition table so badly that
there is no hope for recovery. Others can be repaired with some work.
Results range from only a minor recovery to a complete recovery if you're
very lucky.

If it was the CIH virus, you might find some hope for a complete recovery
using Steve Gibson's FIX-CIH program. Start at http://grc.com and you'll
find it.
