Hello.

A user with MS Outlook having this problem:
He can send & receive all internal emails,
that are from & to his co-workers that are
on the same domain and exchange server.

He can also send to people outside the company.
He won't receive any external email at all.

OS is Windows 2K SP4. OL is 2000 SR1.

I have checked and compared his "SERVICES"
and "OPTIONS" settings with those of mine and
a few other users, and they all match.

Myself & others that I checked settings have no problem
sending and receiving internal or external mail at all.

Where could the problem be? His PC or the servers?
Yes, we do have MIS group, but good luck with them.

I am not asking for exact solution, just possible causes.

Thanks in advance.

Mike

Is Exchange handling internet mail as well as internal mail, or are you
using POP mail in Outlook? If so, note that it is not supported to have both
Internet Mail and Exchange in the same Outlook profile in versions prior to
OL2002.

Thanks for replying.
No. He is not using POP at all.

We all (the ones I checked) have the same setup.
He is the only one can not receive external email.

Have you tried creating a new mail profile for him? Are you sure the
Exchange admins haven't set up a group that doesn't allow external mail? You
haven't mentioned your version of Exchange, but is his mailbox 'stamped'
with the correct e-mail address for your domain?
Thanks for replying.

Thanks

I was out for a few days.
Where does one create new profile? Local Machine or the server?

The reason I am asking is because as I said, we are the users. IT dept.
is busy, and this is not seem to be their problem at this time.

If the profile is to be made at the server level, then I can't help him.
If it is done locally, then can you please let me know the steps to take?

Thanks again.

You create a new profile in Outlook. Control Panel, Mail, should let you do
it - show profiles, delete the old one & create a new one.

PS: If your IT department won't work on what is a pretty major problem with
mail delivery, I'd have a word with management. This might not be the
highest priority item, but it sure seems like it ought to be fixed by them.
Thanks

Thank.
I am going to do that (seek upper management involvement).
