We have a Windows 2000 Server domain. We added a second user to a computer
(created a user account in AD) and tried to recreate as much of the first
user environment as possible - copied over desktop settings, my documents,
etc. from User #1 to User #2.
There is an old program that User 1 has access to, and User 2 needs access
to it, as well. It's a medical billing software which uses a database on a
shared folder on the server. Basically, you just point the program to the
file and it works. However, for some reason when we open the program while
logged
in as User 2, we cannot get the program to recognize and open the data.
It's as if it simply doesn't see it.
The software company no longer provides support. So, my question is: Where
is the information stored that makes it work correctly for User 1? And, can
we copy over that information to get it to work for User 2?
I apologize if this is a half-baked question or idea. I just don't know
what else to do. We don't even have the installation disk.
