Wouldn't it be sensible if teh NT restore had a dos type
restore feature.
BAck in the good old days of WIN311, Centrepoint offers a
DOS utility that jsut restored the contents of a backup
tape(s) to a blank hard disk.
The DOS program was about 300K and at the end you had a
fully recovered system on the HDD.
Couldn't the NTBackup program have a complementary DIOS
module, (NTREST.EXE??) that could recover the data on tape
and return a working copy of XP to the Machine.
No more reinstalls of users, software etc, just one
simple process.
No silly questions either, straight copy form Tape to Disk
In view of the various tape drives then a "Create Restore
program" could be added to the NTBACKUP program that
created a DOS module & the necessary interface software
for your tape drive, excluding the 3,500+ tape drives you
haven't got.
How about it Microsoft???
