A toughie question

Is there a program that can retrieve files that I inadvertently deleted from
this forum? The caution is they can't be retrieved but we know that isn't
always true.

I had a question with a similar heading sometime ago related to deleting IE
hidden files via a bat file.

One of you suggested I contact him if no one came up with a workable
solution for xp and I deleted it.

Red faced, Glenn

If you go to Google *Advanced* Groups search,
http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search?hl=en
there are 4 pages of hits of your posts to this group. Use your e-mail
addy to do the search. There are 2 threads with the word "toughie" in
them - click View Thread to see all the posts.

Try unsubscribing from this group and then resubscribing. That might
get the messages back. Otherwise, you can always do a Google search:

Or you can edit the news.rc for the server. Find the group
name, and lower the number to the right. This will force a
download of prior headers.

It will look something like:
netscape.public.beta.feedback.browser: 1-7241
netscape.public.beta.feedback.mail: 1-3698,3724,3748

Change it to:
netscape.public.beta.feedback.mail: 1-3500

This will force it to dowload the newest 1200 messages.

Hi

This isn't a forum. :)
Technically this may not be a forum but an "exchange" that lets dummies like
me ask dumb questions and in return get good answers, to me is a forum.

Glenn

There are no dumb questions. Unless they are the ones that aren't
asked. ;-)

Btw this is an usenet newsgroup. And glad you are enjoying it. It's a
great group! :)

Well, technically it *is* a forum of a particular type. It happens to
be labelled a newsgroup, with particular focus on freeware. My Random
House Webster's Dictionary has this as the third meaning of "forum":

Hi

You can "label" a newsgroup anything you want (discussion groups,
boards, for example) but the bottom line is that these *are* usenet
newsgroups.

Seems that what nntp people call them, ISP's etc. You don't go to
alt.config or news.groups and ask to create a "forum".

Listings by "newsgroup" not by "forum".
http://www.faqs.org/faqs/by-newsgroup/
ftp://ftp.isc.org/pub/usenet/CONFIG/newsgroups

Thanks for the discussion in this newsgroup, Christopher Jahn. :)
Truth is, everybody including you knew what Glenn meant; so what is the
purpose of your nitpicking?

This is a forum for such discussion, after all.
