I have noticed that when I install the product, configure it and then start
my first scan part way through the first scan it finds updates.

Can I suggest that finding updates should be part of the install process.

Dick

I remove the checkmark at the end of the install for PERFORM SCAN NOW so
that I can go in and setup how I want the first scan done AND to update the
program first. Just a thought - Some people are so hosed, they may not be
able to run the update right away.

Well, it probably will be more predictable in future update. The Check For
Updates feature has not been well thought out so far, but great suggestion.

Andre

Well, It could have feature where it asked at end of installation, it is
recommended you check for definitions right now. Norton does this, so does
Windows after installation for both security and application/hardware
compatibility.

MS is pretty good about giving you multiple options, shouldn't be too hard
to add that in the app. They will probably enhance the install process with
a wizard and this suggestion would be a good stop to put in.

Well, as with all MS Products, it will of course be on par or even better
than most of todays solutions out there on the market.

I trust you said that very much 'tongue in cheek' because if you want me to
tell you what I think about OE I will but please note the following;-

1) I am a Microsoft Partner
2) I have just removed Outlook Express from every production machine because
of the amount of work I had to do to protect myself from the underlying
security flaws in the product.
3) I am getting close to removing IE from all of my production machines
4) You have never had to deal with the localised product available here

Remove IE, are you crazy? You are asking for a very unstable Windows.

Andre

The only reason I'm keeping IE is for access to WindowsUpdate, I cannot see
any other reasons. Could you expand on your answer because I might have
missed something.

If you have the time to answer and would prefer to take this out of the NG
my e-mail address is below.

Well, Windows is built around IE so much I would recommend even think about
removing, keep as a necessary part of the OS. If you need users to run an
alternative browser, go ahead, but removing IE, nope, don't bother, I don't
even think you can.
