Your keyboard should have one.
Mine is just left of the right SHIFT key.

One way: Select a cell (or a position in the text in a cell) and
click on Insert > Symbols. Be sure you are looking at the Wingdings
font. Near the end I find the check mark. It corresponds to ASCII
code 252 in the Wingdings font.

That is a square root sign. ?
Hold down Alt, type 251 (on the number pad) then let go of Alt
It doesn't work in all fonts but it should work
in most of the regular fonts.
Of course what actually constitutes a *regular* font is
debatable but for my money it is ones like Arial, Times New Roman,
Verdana, Courier etc.

From the menu bar, select 'Insert'. From the drop-down menu select
'Symbol...'. From the 'Symbols' tab, click on the 'Subset' drop-down and
select 'Mathematical Operators'. You should see the square root (checkmark)
symbol. To insert the symbol, you can double-click on it or click it once
and then select 'Insert'. Once you've inserted it once, you can copy/paste
to other cells as needed.

Format the cell where you want a check mark with the font Wingdings 2. Then
type a capital P in that cell. Resize the font as desired.
