I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, well, infact I know it's
not, but I'm hoping someone will point me in the right direction.

I was thinking the other day (last year actually), that it would be a
nice idea to have a "Developer" version of ActiveSync, one that doesn't
require you to pair each device connected, always works in Guest mode,
and never pops up the annoying ActiveSync dialog when you connect a device.

It's really annoying when you have 2/3 devices in the office which go on
3/4 different machines, and you have to pair them up every time a
different device is placed in the cradle (and then it's forgotton that
it's already seen the device called "iPAQ1", and you have a huge list of
devices called iPAQ1a, iPAQ1b, iPAQ1c, iPAQ1d, etc ..., because it
insists on each device having a unique name)
</rant>

Does this already exist? Or if not, who could I email with such a suggetion?

ACP,

Your link is broken now. Could you re-direct me?

Thanks,
Greg

Exert from the linked article (works for me, but for those it doesn't...):

GuestOnly

GuestOnly is the real magic in our personal Sync Stations; it’s
responsible for allowing all new devices (i.e., those that don’t already
have a partnership with the PC) to connect as guests without being
prompted to establish a partnership. (Note that all devices that have an
existing partnership with the PC will still connect and synchronize as
they did before.)

GuestOnly is a DWORD value that resides at
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services. Of course, if you use
regedit to look at the other values under that key, you’ll notice that
GuestOnly is missing. In order to test it, then, you must manually
create the value and then set its value to 1.
