PLease help me...

I have use WMM in the past without problems. Now that I want to again, I get
the message that it has encountered a problem and has to close. The error
reads:

ppName: moviemk.exe
AppVer: 2.0.3312.0
ModName: qedit.dll
ModVer: 6.5.2600.2180
Offset: 0001b2af

I have read many threads, but have had no success. I need someone who has
SUCCESSFULLY over come this issue. I would appreciate all help, provided it
is uncmplicated terminology.

Rosa, when does it crash?
When you open the programme?
When you add files?
When you are editing?

What file types are you using?
What are you doing when it crashes, adding a file, editing a file?

Every time I tried to load it. I have not used it for a few months. Now that
I do, everytime I load it, it pops this message up and have to close it.

=============================
I notice you are running Movie Maker 2.0.3312.0.
That is not the most current version for Win XP.

Have you installed Win XP SP2?

I've got a similar failure. I've never used Windows Movie Maker before. I was
searching for a program to perform a file conversion, and found out about it.
I tried it today, and it failed a few seconds after opening. I tried it
several times, with the same results. Rebooting the computer made no
difference. The error information I have is...

AppName: moviemk.exe AppVer: 2.1.4026.0 ModName: qedit.dll
ModVer: 6.5.2600.2180 Offset: 0001a513

Some users have reported problems
after installing IE7. If this applies to your
situation ...uninstalling IE7 may be worth
a try.

I've also seen a report that disabling the
ffdshow codec could be the fix. To accomplish
this...open Movie Maker and go to...Tools /
Options / Compatibility tab...Uncheck...
ffdshow / OK.

Thank you for your responses... However, I went to "options from tool menu"
and had no boxes to uncheck ffdshow. Where is this? DO I have to install SP2?

I don't think we are communicating.
If you have not installed SP2 it may
be worth a try but it's your decision...
I am not recommending it.

Good luck in solving the problem.

Rosa you won't with V2.0. As john says updating to SP2 and Movie maker 2.1
may well solve your problem, otherwise check out www.papajohn.org and see
the crashes and hangs page.
