When trying to save my very short movie (2mins) to my CD-R I have a message
that comes up saying a recording CD drive was not detected. I figure Windows
is not reading my drive? I can record normally with CD writer...burn CDS and
burn my digital pics. to CDS as well. I have gone through the list of "what
to do" through Microsoft and it is still not working. Under properties in
the CD-ROM drive I am unable to select "recording tab" as there is no tab so
windows does not know to allow or enable CD recording on my drive... Please
help? Do I need updates? Thanks.

PArt true and part not.
WMM can save to a cd, this cd will not play in a normal dvd player. A DV-AVI
file will not play on one either, you need to use something like nero/roxio
to convert the dv-avi file in to a vcd/svcd or even a dvd format to play it.

Thanks Graham the info is very useful but am still unsure, you say WMM can
save to cd but if this is so why does WMM say that a recording CD drive is
not detected if you can burn from WMM.

The problem you have is that you are unable to make windows see the
recorder, as the option is greyed out. I have some instructions somewhere to
try and overcome this, I'll search them out for you.

I had this prob last week resolved it here! go to my computer, right click
on cdr drive and click properties. check the box tht says enable recording
becaue it is not checked by default. hth.
