Hi,
I've got a real problem on my hands (doesn't everyone?). I'm connected
to broadband through my other computer however after some failed and rolled
back windows security updates I've found that no web browser is working.

I've checked all connections, hardware, and network configurations and
everything is in order. I've contacted my ISP and they scratched their heads
in befuddlement and said it can't be any of the above, and even explorer is
supposedly working.

I can retrieve my IP address, ping websites from the command prompt, access
the iTunes webstore, and even transmit files over the network.

However, pulling up internet explorer, I cannot access any websites.

I tried rolling back the install of the latest version of Norton, but alas,
I need to be able to access the microsoft intaller update from the internet
to do that, and since I can't get to the web I'm up the creek without a
paddle.

i'm down to my last shred of sanity, can anyone help me figure out what is
going on? Thanks!

Hi Mike,

Guess. Check your Nortons Internet Security settings. Is Internet Explorer
(IExplore.exe) on the list of programs allowed to access the Internet.
(Sorry I uninstalled Nortons long ago and I can't check or give you
instructions for Using Nortons).

Failing that I would next try deleting all connections
(Start>Settings>Network Connections) and then using the Network Connection
Wizard to create a new one from scratch. I think from memory that Nortons
should then ask you again then if you want to give Internet Explorer
internet access.

Regards.

Have you looked in your modem and router logs for hints about the problem?
e.g. are you getting TO the router? Then, is the router getting out? If
no, then what's the error; there should be a log of it.

Pop`

Figured it out after a nightmarish curse laden night. Google desktop search.
Remove it. 'Nuff said.

Hope this helps anyone else in the future. Thanks for your help.
