Greetings,

I was posed a question the other day of which the answer I am not quite
sure. Is there a way to take information from an Adobe PDF file and export
it to an Excel spreadsheet? If you have any idea of how it can be done, I
would appreciate the reply.

Hi Robert
problem is that a PDF file is intended to be the 'end stage' of a
document. So it's not designed to extract/export the text within.

there are some solutions available (try searching google for 'extrac
text pdf'). One commercial tool (I haven't tested it though) is
PDF2TXT (http://www.verypdf.com/)

Best way would be to ask the creator of the PDF file to send you the
file in the original format

Thanks Frank,

I had assumed as much. Although I was not aware of there being software out
there that could possibly extract information to Text. This may work out
just as well.

The free Adobe Reader 6 allows you to select text within the document, and then
copy it to the clipboard.

See PDF and Excel

Selecting text with the free Reader is a bit tricky you must
do one column at a time. Other solutions involve converting
to HTML -- there are free programs to create PDF and work
PDF files (see the web page).

[clipped 3 suggestions, including getting text version from the author]
