A question on Active Desktop

Hi there.

In WinXP, I need to progrmatically change the URL of the user's active
desktop. I can change the registry key to the new URL - this is no
problem - but obviously the change is not automatically reflected on
their desktop.

Does anyone know how to progrmatically cause the Active Desktop to
re-read its settings from the registry and update the displayed page?
Can this even be done? I'm getting pretty desparate for some
confirmation one way or the other.

Any help much appreciated.

I have one that someone might be able to help me with. Every time I open a
new window my comp has a windows installer window saying installing? Never
did this before.
