I would love to have a program which would pop up and notify me if for any
reason my firewall was not running. I used EndItAll earlier so I could
install a new program. It did not require a reboot and I forgot to run my
firewall again. It would be useful to have a small reminder pop up to tell
me I had disabled the firewall. Does such a program exist. I run Win98 OS

Nope...

Look at the thread '"Alarm" to warn if process stops' from just 4 days ago.

Not that I am aware of, but ....

Maybe set your home page to a (not-too-nasty) site that your firewall
would normally block. Then when you start your browser and see "THAT
SITE" you will realize your firewall is off ?

Hmmm...you're lucky/unlucky...depending on how you look at it. Whenever I
use EndItAll, if I want to use the Internet rigth afterwards, I have to
reboot. My dialup connection just never restarts once I've closed all the
related processes.

IIRC you can 'protect' certain apps in EndItAll, so they're not shut down
by it. Why not keep your firewall running while installing new software ? I
do that and it never gave me any problems.

You took the words right out of my fingers! <G> I would think leaving
ZA running would be ideal, and I've set it that way on EndItAll. I set
it to block all traffic when I'm defragging, installing new stuff,
etc. My "reminder" that it's off is that when I'm done, I can't access
the Net.
